Jupiter trash goes twice a week with WM, recycling once. No pickup Thanksgiving or Christmas Day; it moves to your next service day. WM: 772-546-7700.
Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Facts on this page come from the Town of Jupiter Garbage & Recycling page, its Garbage & Recycling FAQ and its Residential Recycling page.
The Town of Jupiter contracts with Waste Management (WM) to collect garbage, yard waste, bulk items and recycling at homes inside town limits. Garbage and yard waste are picked up twice a week and recycling once a week. Your days depend on your address: enter it on WM’s pickup day lookup or check the town’s trash zone map (PDF).
Homes in Jupiter Farms, Jupiter Inlet Colony, Tequesta and unincorporated Palm Beach County are not on the town’s contract, the town says.

WM takes only two days off a year. If your pickup falls on one of them, your garbage and recycling are collected on your next regularly scheduled service day, the town’s FAQ says.
| Holiday | Date | Pickup |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 26 | None; collected on your next service day |
| Christmas Day | Friday, Dec. 25 | None; collected on your next service day |
| New Year’s Day | Friday, Jan. 1, 2027 | Not listed as a day off |
Every other holiday, including Veterans Day, follows the normal schedule.
Setting out garbage
- WM collects between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Put your cart at the curb the night before or by 6 a.m. on your service day.
- Place the cart at the curb, or no more than 6 feet from the street, where the driver can see it.
- All trash must fit inside the cart with the lid closed. Bags left beside the cart are not collected.
- If you often have too much trash, ask WM for a larger cart or buy a second one at 772-546-7700.
- Residents who cannot move the cart to the curb can sign up with WM to have crews move it from the house and back.
New to town? Garbage, recycling and yard waste service starts when you sign up for town water service, and the charge appears on your monthly water bill. New residents can call WM to have a cart delivered at no cost. Current monthly rates are on the town’s waste collection fees page; they change each Oct. 1 under the WM contract.
Recycling: the two-bin system
Jupiter uses the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s countywide two-bin program, with what goes in each bin printed on the side:
- Blue bin: plastic, glass and metal food and drink containers of 2 gallons or less, plus milk and juice cartons.
- Yellow bin: paper and flattened cardboard.
Not sure about an item? Search the SWA’s Is This Recyclable? database. Missed your recycling day? Keep the bins until next week, or take them to the North County Transfer Station, 14185 N. Military Trail, which takes recyclables. The SWA also lists cardboard drop-off dumpsters for oversized boxes.
Order new or replacement bins free with the SWA bin order form.
Yard waste
WM picks up up to 8 cubic yards of yard waste twice a week, on your garbage days. The town says that is about enough to fill a small dumpster.
- Bundle and tie branches, limbs and palm fronds. No piece longer than 6 feet or heavier than 50 pounds.
- Put grass clippings, leaves and small twigs in sturdy bags with tied tops, or in cans with lids of 32 gallons or less, each under 50 pounds.
- Larger piles need a special pickup. Call WM at 800-824-8472.
Bulk pickup
Furniture, appliances, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, toilets, sinks, bathtubs and bicycles go at the curb on your first collection day of the week, at no extra charge. Construction and demolition debris is not accepted; haul it yourself, hire a contractor or ask WM for a quote. Any item left behind is tagged with a note saying why and what to do.
Hazardous waste and old medicine
Paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, antifreeze and engine oil do not go in the cart. The Solid Waste Authority takes home chemicals at its transfer stations, including the North County station on North Military Trail; call 561-697-2700 for instructions or see the SWA’s home chemical drop-off list. Old medicine goes to an Operation Pill Drop box from the SWA’s prescription medicines page.
Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30. See the Palm Beach County hurricane prep guide before trimming trees when a storm is coming.
