Jupiter's town rate is 3.5886 mills for 2026-27, up from 2.3894, as the town takes over fire rescue. Bills go out by Nov. 1; 4% off in November.

Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Facts on this page come from the Palm Beach County Tax Collector, the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser and the Town of Jupiter’s millage rate page. Updated each fall when new rates and bills come out.

Three offices handle property taxes for a Jupiter home. The Property Appraiser sets the value and handles exemptions. Each taxing body, including the town, the county and the School Board, sets its own rate. The Tax Collector mails the bill and takes the money. The 2026 bills go out by Nov. 1, and this year’s Jupiter bill looks different because the town now runs its own fire department.

When the bill is due

The Tax Collector’s property tax page says bills are mailed by Nov. 1 and can be paid from Nov. 1 to March 31. Paying early earns a discount:

Pay in Discount 2026 bill deadline
November 4% Monday, Nov. 30
December 3% Thursday, Dec. 31
January 2% Monday, Feb. 1, 2027 (Jan. 31 is a Sunday)
February 1% Monday, March 1, 2027 (Feb. 28 is a Sunday)
March none Wednesday, March 31, 2027

Taxes not paid by March 31 are delinquent on April 1 and draw penalties and interest. A deadline that falls on a weekend or holiday moves to the next business day, per the Tax Collector’s dates and deadlines page. To pay in four parts during the year, use the installment payment plan; the last day to apply each year is April 30.

Jupiter’s tax rate and the new fire department

The Town of Jupiter’s adopted rate for fiscal 2026-27 is 3.5886 mills, according to the town’s millage rate page:

Town of Jupiter rate 2025-26 2026-27
General fund and capital improvements 2.3894 2.3894
Fire fund none 1.1992
Total 2.3894 3.5886

The jump pays for the Jupiter Fire Rescue Department, which took over from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue on Oct. 1, 2026. Until now, Jupiter owners paid the county for fire rescue through a line labeled “Jupiter Fire/Rescue.” The town’s fire funding page says that line comes off the bill, and the town funds its own department with a combination of the town property tax and a non-ad valorem fire assessment, a charge set by property type instead of value. The town says the department’s first-year budget is about $25 million, compared with about $32 million for county service. Its page has a savings calculator by address.

One mill is $1 for every $1,000 of taxable value, so the town’s share on a home with a $300,000 taxable value is about $1,077.

The town is one line of several. The Property Appraiser’s 2026 proposed millage chart (PDF) lists the other rates a Jupiter address can carry:

Taxing authority 2025 final 2026 proposed
Town of Jupiter 2.3894 3.5886
Palm Beach County (operating) 4.5000 4.5000
Palm Beach County (debt) 0.0330 0.0210
School Board, state rate 3.0730 3.0390
School Board, local rate 3.2480 3.2480
Health Care District 0.6561 0.6561
County library 0.5491 0.5491
Children’s Services Council 0.4908 0.4908
South Florida Water Management District (three levies) 0.2301 0.2301
Jupiter Inlet District 0.0722 0.0722
Florida Inland Navigation District 0.0270 0.0270

The rates other than the town’s are the proposed figures from July. Your TRIM notice from August lists exactly which rates apply to your parcel, and the November bill shows the final ones.

The chart: where the money goes

Bar chart of 2026 tax rates on a Jupiter property: School Board 6.287 mills, Palm Beach County 4.521, Town of Jupiter 3.589, Health Care District 0.656, county library 0.549, Children's Services 0.491, water management, FIND and Jupiter Inlet District 0.329

The schools take the largest share of a Jupiter bill, then the county, then the town. The town’s own Amendment 3 page says about 21 cents of each property tax dollar a Jupiter owner pays goes to the town and about 40 cents to the School District.

Homestead exemption and Amendment 3

If the home is your permanent residence on Jan. 1, the homestead exemption takes $25,000 off the assessed value for all taxes, and a second exemption, up to $25,722 for 2025, off non-school taxes. You must file by March 1; the Property Appraiser says missing that date waives the exemption for the year. Homestead also caps the yearly rise in assessed value at 3% or the change in the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lower. File through the Homestead E-File, at a service center or by mail.

Florida voters decide Amendment 3 in the Nov. 3 general election. The town’s Amendment 3 page says it would raise the non-school homestead exemption to $150,000 on Jan. 1, 2027, and to $250,000 on Jan. 1, 2028. School taxes would not change. The town estimates it would lose $5.5 million in property tax revenue in fiscal 2027 and another $10.5 million in fiscal 2028. See our voting guide for the election dates.

How to appeal your value

The value on your TRIM notice is the one to challenge. According to the Property Appraiser’s petition page:

  1. Call 561-355-3230 or visit a service center to ask for an informal review.
  2. If that does not settle it, file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board, run by the Clerk & Comptroller. The filing fee is up to $20.
  3. The deadline is the 25th day after TRIM notices are mailed. For 2026 it was Sept. 14, so this year’s window has closed.
