Jupiter High, Independence Middle, Beacon Cove and Jupiter Farms Elementary are among 45 Palm Beach County schools the state named 2026 Schools of Excellence.
Four public schools that serve Jupiter are among 45 Palm Beach County schools the state has named 2026 Schools of Excellence. They are:
- Jupiter Community High, 500 N. Military Trail
- Independence Middle, 4001 Greenway Drive
- Beacon Cove Intermediate, 150 School House Road
- Jupiter Farms Elementary, 17400 Haynie Lane
The first three are inside town limits. Jupiter Farms Elementary has a Jupiter mailing address but sits in unincorporated Jupiter Farms, about four miles west of I-95.
The School District of Palm Beach County announced the list Oct. 14 in a news release on its website. The Florida Department of Education makes the designation.
What the title takes
The award is for a run of results, not one good year. Under Florida law, a school qualifies when its school grade score puts it in the 80th percentile or higher among schools of its type statewide. It has to do that in at least two of the last three school years.
The score is the share of possible points a school earns across the state’s grade components, such as reading and math achievement and learning gains. Elementary schools are ranked against elementary schools, middle against middle and high against high.
“Achieving success for one year is worth celebrating, but sustaining it year after year is a remarkable accomplishment,” Superintendent Mike Burke said in the release.
How the four scored
All four earned an A in Florida’s 2026 school grades, and in 2025 and 2024 as well, according to the state’s 2026 school grades file.
| School | Share of possible points, 2026 | Grade 2026 | Grade 2025 | Grade 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jupiter Farms Elementary | 79% | A | A | A |
| Beacon Cove Intermediate | 76% | A | A | A |
| Independence Middle | 71% | A | A | A |
| Jupiter Community High | 69% | A | A | A |

Jupiter Farms has earned an A every graded year since 2001, Beacon Cove since 2003 and Independence Middle since 2004. Jupiter High has earned an A every year in the state file since 2012.
The other Jupiter schools
Every other graded district school in Jupiter also earned an A in 2026. These did not make the list:
- Limestone Creek Elementary: 69%, an A for the third year running
- Jupiter Elementary: 68%, up from a B in 2025 and 2024
- Jupiter Middle: 68%, an A in 2025 and a B in 2024
- Jerry Thomas Elementary: 64%, an A in 2025 and a B in 2024
William T. Dwyer High, in Palm Beach Gardens about six miles south, is zoned for much of south Jupiter. It earned an A with 66%. Lighthouse Elementary teaches pre-K through second grade and gets no state grade of its own. Its students move on to Beacon Cove.
What it means for you
- Parents: the designation is a state measure of steady results over three years. It does not change a school’s zone, calendar or enrollment.
- Families moving here: which school a child attends depends on the address. Our Jupiter public schools guide explains the zones and feeder patterns.
- Anyone: the full list of 45 schools is in the district’s release.
