Jupiter's 2.5-mile dog beach, two town dog parks with small and large dog runs, and the leash rules: 6-foot leash in county parks, none at Riverbend.
Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Sources: the Town of Jupiter’s dog-friendly beach page and its park listings for Cinquez Park and FIND Park, and Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation’s dog rules.
Jupiter is one of the few places in Florida where you can walk a dog off leash on an ocean beach. The town has allowed dogs on its beaches since its Town Council adopted the policy in 1989, and it runs two fenced dog parks inland. The rules change at the county line, though: most Palm Beach County parks want a short leash, and a few ban dogs entirely.
Who to call
- Town parks and dog parks: Jupiter Community Center, 561-741-2400

The dog beach
The town’s dog-friendly beach runs 2.5 miles from beach marker 26 at Marcinski Road north to beach marker 57, at the Carlin Park property line. The town posts a beach crossover map.
The town’s rules:
- Bring only well-behaved, socialized, non-aggressive dogs that respond to voice commands; dogs do not have to be leashed on this stretch of sand.
- Supervise your dog at all times and stay inside the dog-friendly boundaries.
- Leash your dog walking from the car to the beach. The town also suggests a leash around small children.
- Be courteous to people who do not want to meet a dog.
- Pick up after your dog. Friends of Jupiter Beach puts dog waste bags at every crossover on the dog-friendly stretch.
The town’s hot-weather advice, from Friends of Jupiter Beach: give your dog shade and fresh water, do not let it drink seawater, watch for hot sand, jellyfish and rip currents, and rinse it off at the end of the day.

Dog park rules
Both dog parks are unsupervised, and owners are responsible for their dogs. The town’s rules include:
- Leash your dog before you enter and after you leave the dog runs.
- Keep voice control at all times, follow the posted weight limits and remove your dog at the first sign of aggression.
- Pick up after your dog, and stay with children inside the dog park.
- Not allowed: smoking inside the fences, more than two dogs per handler, professional trainer sessions, puppies under 4 months, dogs in heat, sick dogs, food or treats, alcohol, glass bottles, strollers and bicycles. Cinquez Park also bars children’s toys and handlers under 16.
- Report incidents or injuries to the Jupiter Police Department at 561-799-4445.
Leash rules in county parks
Palm Beach County runs the big parks in and around Jupiter, including Carlin, DuBois, Coral Cove and Riverbend. Its dog rules say:
- Dogs are allowed in most county parks on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
- Dogs are not allowed on county beaches, or at Riverbend Park or Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park in Jupiter, or anywhere else signs say so. Service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act are the exception.
The rules are in the county’s park ordinance on animals and its animal control ordinance, Ordinance 98-22. The town’s own code is on Municode.
Rabies shots and tags
Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control requires rabies vaccinations and county tags for dogs and cats, and offers low-cost rabies shots seven days a week with no appointment. Details are on the county’s animal care page.
Restaurant patios
We list a restaurant patio as dog-friendly only when the restaurant says so on its own website. None in Jupiter did when we checked on Oct. 9, 2026. Restaurants can send us their policy and we will add it here.
What this means for you
- Off leash: only on the town’s dog beach and inside the fenced dog parks.
- In county parks, a 6-foot leash; at Riverbend, leave the dog at home.
